G Suite Accounts

G Suite

G Suite for Education is a collection of cloud-based productivity and educational tools available to anyone within a school account. Google Tools is available for personal Google accounts, too; however, the G Suite ecosystem is a more integrated and secure approach for a school setting.

The account gives you access to a lot of services that are only accessible by people within a Domain:

  • an email address

  • Google Classroom

  • Google Docs

  • Google Sites

  • and more (click on the Google Grid within a G Suite account to see)

TROUBLESHOOTING

The #1 issue that occurs with accounts is being logged in to both your school account and a personal account. Sometimes when you click on a link in a personal account that links to somewhere in the school domain, you get a "Not Found" message. My suggestion is to log out of ALL your accounts, then log in with your school account FIRST, then your personal one. That will make your school account the default. The other solution is not to click on links but go straight to your Google Classroom and pick up messages from there.

Note that this is not the same as being signed into Chrome. This is important because Chrome will have all your personalized settings, bookmarks and extensions. So if you share a computer with someone else and want to learn about Chrome settings, check out this video: https://youtu.be/gQPqhqJQAaA
